Having a hard time finding a costume bra that fits?
If you said yes, you’re not alone. 🙂
In fact, finding a well-fitting bra is one of the biggest costume challenges I hear from dancers every week.
The problem is…
…that many of the costumes on the market were made to fit “average” body sizes.
When I had my first solo performance opportunity, I was disappointed to see the options available to me. Being shorter and smaller than “average”, I was often swimming in these pre-made costumes.
These pre-made costumes are made to fit “everyone”, but I believe that very few people find them perfect-fitting unless they are custom made.
In reality, each one of us has a uniquely shaped, beautiful body. And as a dancer, it’s really important that you have a bra that fits and makes you feel confident on stage!
So what do you do?
The best way to tackle this challenge is making your own belly dance bra.
“But I don’t know how to sew!”
Don’t worry, once you try, it’s not that hard. I’ll show you how you can make your own belly dance bra 🙂

Alter Beaded Belly Dance Bra Straps
Have a belly dance bra, but the shoulder straps aren’t quite right? Often the straps of belly dance bras are beaded, and it can be intimidating to cut or alter them. In this tutorial, I show how I altered my beaded bra.
There are times you have to stuff your bra cups to make them fit right. Stuffing cotton balls in cups can get unhygienic. In this post, I show you how I make my own bra inserts that are removable, washable and transferrable.
